The Zambia Institute of Mass Communication (ZAMCOM) was established under the ZAMCOM Act of Parliament of 1996 to provide Communications and Media training and production services. ZAMCOM has recently been undergoing a corporate renewal and is currently implementing a new strategic plan aiming at positioning the organization to becoming financially viable and independent.

As part of its transformation process, ZAMCOM is inviting applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates to fill in the following position;


Reporting to the Executive Director

Job purpose

The Creative Manager will be responsible for overseeing all creative products produced by ZAMCOM. He or she will oversee the entire creative team, including copywriters, directors, graphic designers, cinematographers and commercial producers.

Duties & Responsibilities

The duties and responsibilities of a ZAMCOM Creative Manager include the following, among others;

  • Manage the relationship between clients and ZAMCOM.
  • Lead the creative process from concept to completion
  • Lead the process of the establishment and management of the ZAMCOM Radio
  • Assign creative projects to individual team members.
  • Ensure all creative works are on track to meet set deadlines.
  • Responsible for the overall quality of work produced by the Creative department.
  • Monitor, review and appraises performance of all the subordinates in the Department.
  • Involved in hiring and training of creative staff


  • Leadership: Able to lead and inspire a team of people who are creative to achieve desired results.
  • Creativity: Creative directors will invent new ideas for branding, advertising campaigns and marketing messages. They need to understand design and smart copy, and recognize fresh approaches to advertising.
  • Analytical Skills: Advertising and marketing is ever-evolving, and good creative directors are able to analyze trends, look at new data and keep with the times.
  • Decision-Making Skills: Advertising campaigns have timelines, and the creative Manager will need to make decisions on final copy, final art, finished commercials programmes and spot adverts.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as presentation skills.


This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Mass communications with minimum of at least three (3) years’ experience in a reputable organization.



Reporting to the Finance Manager

Job purpose

To assist Senior Management in making critical business decisions by analyzing and presenting key financial data. In addition, oversee accounting procedures and prepare forecasts, budgets and risk analysis.

Main duties

  • Preparation of financial statements and interpretation of financial performance reports
  • Provide accurate and sound management reporting to assist with key decision making
  • Prepare budgets and carry out cost accounting, manage payables, inventory management, investments analysis and financial modelling to achieve set performance targets.
  • Ability to apply International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and International Accounting Standards (IAS)
  • Analyze financial information to assess with business profitability and growth
  • Manage capital expenditure
  • Review reports and analyze projections of sales, expenses, profit and cash flow against actual figures
  • Prepare monthly management reports for submission to management for review.
  • Prepare monthly / quarterly operational reports for management on income and expenditure.
  • Prepare annual operating budget and capital budget.
  • Analyze investment opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and statutory obligations
  • Ensure adherence to internal control systems and procedures to minimize loss of revenue.
  • Facilitate external audits
  • Accountability for cash flow and production of forecasts
  • Production of relevant commercial analysis e.g. margins and pricing


  • Full CIMA/ ACCA/CA
  • Member of ZICA
  • Have operating knowledge in PASTEL or similar Accounting packages.
  • I.T proficient (Good knowledge of MS Office packages, databases and Microsoft Dynamics Environment) MS excel modelling.
  • Minimum three (3) years experience of which at least two (2) years experience handling similar responsibilities/ position.
  • Have strong budgeting and cost accounting background with practical experience in payables management, inventory management, investments analysis and financial modelling.
  • Extensive knowledge on International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and International Accounting Standards (IAS)
  • Commercial awareness, with an interest in business and an understanding of how an organization works and manages resources.
  • Ability to explain complex financial information in a clear way
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Self-motivated and able to work with minimum supervision.



Reporting to the Marketing & Projects Manager

Job purpose

To coordinate activities and functions of the project to ensure that the specified project goals and objectives are accomplished in accordance with established priorities, timelines, funding limitations and other specifications.

Duties & Responsibilities

The duties and responsibilities of a ZAMCOM Media Projects Officer include the following, among others;

  • Assume an overall responsibility of coordinating projects
  • Coordination of project activities with inter- related activities of other ZAMCOM programs, departments to ensure optimum efficiency and compliance with appropriate policies, procedures and specifications
  • Develop and schedule project periodic work plans in accordance with overall project plan of action
  • Assist in the production of training materials for journalists and other partners in cooperation with trainers
  • Engage journalists and other actors in special trainings
  • Monitor program expenditures ensuring that budget allocations are not over spent
  • Prepare periodic reports, and records on project activities, progress, status or other special reports
  • Monitoring and evaluation of the projects
  • Develop, organize and facilitate workshops, meetings or conferences
  • Coordinate logistics, scheduling and participant communications
  • Regularly appraise ZAMCOM team members on activities or work
  • Conceptualize, develop and implement other projects in conjunction with relevant ZAMCOM Departments

Reporting to the Human Resource Officer

Main duties

  • Support the development and implementation of HR initiatives and systems
  • Be actively involved in recruitment by identifying suitable candidates
  • Assist with the training and development programs
  • Facilitate employee inductions
  • Assist in performance management processes
  • Support Management in dealing with disciplinary and grievance issues
  • Maintain employee records/ database- attendance, leave, etc in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with the Statutory requirements including internal set up work procedures e.g. Sick, leave, recruitment, grievance and disciplinary procedures
  • Compilation and submission of employee daily, weekly and monthly attendance reports
  • Maintaining physical and digital personnel records like employment contracts
  • Update internal databases with new hire information
  • Create and distribute guidelines and FAQ documents about company policies
  • Schedule job interviews and contact candidates as needed
  • Respond to employees’ questions about benefits (for example, number of vacation days they’re eligible for)

Requirements and Skills

  • Full Grade Twelve (12) Certificate
  • Degree in Public Administration or Human Resource Management
  • Member of the Zambia Institute of Human Resource Management (ZIHRM)
  • Proven knowledge and understanding of Zambia’s labour laws
  • Analytical and planning skills
