17 Mar ZAMCOM AND ZICA COLLABORATE TO STRENGTHEN COMMUNICATION SKILLS AMONG ZAMBIA’S ACCOUNTING AND FINANCE PROFESSIONALS
Lusaka, Tuesday 17th March, 2026 - The Zambia Institute of Mass Communication Educational Trust (ZAMCOM) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants (ZICA) aimed at strengthening capacity building, strategic communication, and skills development Programme for Accountants and Finance Professionals. The agreement marks a significant step in bridging the gap between technical financial expertise and effective professional communication in Zambia.
The partnership will see the introduction of a Specialised Communication Training Programme for Accountants and Finance Professionals, which will be integrated into ZICA’s Continuous Professional Development (CPD) framework. The initiative is designed to equip accountants with modern communication skills required to effectively present financial and technical information to boards, regulators, investors, stakeholders, and the general public.
The collaboration reflects growing recognition within the profession that technical expertise alone is no longer sufficient, and that finance professionals must also be able to communicate complex financial data clearly, accurately, and responsibly.
The training programme will focus on strengthening professional report writing, improving stakeholder communication, enhancing ethical communication practices, and equipping accountants with skills to manage crisis and reputational risks in the financial sector. Participants will also gain practical knowledge in digital communication and data storytelling skills increasingly required in modern financial reporting environments.
Under the agreement, the programme will be delivered through an eight-hour virtual training structure, allowing accountants and finance professionals from across the country to participate without geographical limitations. Sessions will be conducted over four weeks, with interactive learning methods including expert presentations, practical exercises, case studies, and assessments to ensure participants develop practical and applicable communication competencies.
Target participants include chartered accountants, accountancy trainees, auditors, finance managers, public sector finance professionals, and accountants working in public and private organisations.
Participants who successfully complete the programme and final assessment will receive jointly issued certification from ZAMCOM and ZICA, with certificates awarded during a joint certification ceremony. The partnership represents a significant step toward strengthening communication standards within Zambia’s financial sector, supporting greater transparency, improved governance, and enhanced public confidence in financial reporting.
The Memorandum of Understanding will remain in force for an initial period of three years, during which the two institutions will collaborate on training delivery and explore additional opportunities for professional development and institutional cooperation.
