22 Sep ZAMCOM CHARTS PATH FORWARD WITH STRATEGIC PLANNING MEETING
The Zambia Institute of Mass Communication Educational Trust (ZAMCOM) held a one-day strategic planning meeting bringing together the Board of Trustees and Management to chart the next chapter of the institution's growth.
The meeting served two key purposes: reviewing the performance of the outgoing Strategic Plan and laying the groundwork for the development of the new Strategic Plan 2027- 2031. The meeting formed part of ZAMCOM's ongoing efforts to reflect on its progress, learn from implementation successes and challenges, and set clear priorities for the next five years.
Speaking on the significance of the engagement, ZAMCOM reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening the institution's mandate in media training, communication excellence, institutional sustainability and accountability as it repositions itself for greater impact in Zambia's media and communication landscape.
A Track Record of Growth
The outgoing strategic plan delivered a number of notable milestones that reflect ZAMCOM's expanding footprint and diversifying capabilities:
- ZAMCOM Radio is fully operational and now broadcasting on 100.1FM, extending the institution's reach and providing a practical training platform for students in broadcast journalism.
- The Business Center is now fully operational, focusing on corporate printing and branding services a development that both generates income for the institution and provides hands-on experience for students in graphic designing and printing.
- Construction of a double-storey conference hall at ZAMCOM Lodge, a facility set to expand the institution's capacity to host conferences, trainings and other events.
- ZAMCOM broadened its academic offerings with the introduction of new programmes, including a Postgraduate Diploma in Communication and Public Relations, responding to growing demand for advanced qualifications in the field.
Building on these achievements, the strategic planning meeting marks the beginning of a consultative process to shape ZAMCOM's direction for 2027- 2031. The Board of Trustees and Management will work together to identify priority areas, set measurable targets and ensure the new plan builds on lessons learned while positioning the institution to meet emerging trends in media, communication and public relations training.
ZAMCOM remains committed to its core mandate of producing highly skilled media and communication professionals, while strengthening the institutional systems that support long-term sustainability and accountability.
