ZAMCOM AND ZAMBIA ARMY COLLABORATE TO STRENGTHEN MEDIA CAPACITY, NATIONAL SECURITY AND DEVELOPMENT

Lusaka, Wednesday 07th January, 2026 - The Zambia Institute of Mass Communication Educational Trust (ZAMCOM) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Defence through the Zambia Army, aimed at strengthening capacity building, strategic communication, and skills development in support of national security and development.

The MoU will enable ZAMCOM to provide specialised training and professional development in media and communication for army personnel, reinforcing the role of education in enhancing institutional capacity and effective information management.

As a statutory body under the Ministry of Media and Information, ZAMCOM continues to play a critical role in strengthening Zambia’s media ecosystem by producing skilled, ethical, and development-oriented media professionals. The institution’s training programmes are designed to respond to emerging national priorities, including information integrity, strategic communication, and public awareness.

The partnership with Zambia Army is also aligned with Zambia’s National Development Goals, particularly human capital development, good governance, and institutional strengthening. It recognises education as a critical tool in promoting national security, social cohesion, and informed public engagement.

This MoU is further aligned with national development frameworks that prioritise human capital development, institutional capacity building, and inter-ministerial collaboration. By bridging education, media, and national security, the partnership reinforces the role of knowledge and skills as drivers of socio-economic development and national resilience.

ZAMCOM remains committed to working with Government ministries, defence and security wings, and other strategic partners to advance national interests through education, training, and innovation.
