ZAMCOM AND THE PUBLIC PRIVATE DIALOGUE FORUM (PPDF)COLLABORATE

Lusaka, 10th February 2026 – The Zambia Institute of Mass Communication (ZAMCOM) and the Public Private Dialogue Forum (PPDF) have agreed to explore areas of collaboration and resource mobilization in support of Continuous Professional Development (CPD) programmes for media and communication practitioners.

The engagement between ZAMCOM and the PPDF focused on strengthening partnerships aimed at enhancing professional skills, ethical reporting and strategic communication in key national and global priority areas. Discussions centred on resource mobilization for ZAMCOM’s upcoming CPD programmes, including Political and Electoral Reporting, Mastering Digital Communication for Environmental Sustainability and Agriculture and Climate Change Reporting.

ZAMCOM highlighted the critical role of well-trained journalists and communication professionals in promoting democratic governance, sustainable development, environmental stewardship, and informed public discourse. The Institute emphasized that these training programmes are expected to contribute to improved public awareness, stronger governance frameworks and informed citizen participation in support of sustainable economic growth.

The Forum welcomed the engagement and reaffirmed its commitment to fostering partnerships that strengthen dialogue between the public sector, private sector and key stakeholders such as the media.

PPDF also expressed readiness to collaborate with ZAMCOM on structured dialogue platforms that promote informed reporting on economic reforms, private sector development, governance and national policy. In addition, discussions highlighted potential areas of cooperation in ICT support, including digital platforms for training delivery, knowledge management and information dissemination to broaden access and efficiency.

The engagement further emphasized the strategic role of the private sector and international cooperating partners in supporting professional development in the media sector through financing, technical assistant and knowledge and learning exchange programs.

The meeting reaffirmed ZAMCOM’s mandate as a leading institution in media training and professional development and PPDF’s role as a convener of dialogue and partnerships. Both institutions expressed commitment to continued collaboration in building a knowledgeable, ethical and responsive media sector that contributes meaningfully to Zambia’s socio-economic development.
